Puck Mechanical Works (PMW) were established in 1923, when Warsztaty Naprawczo-Remontowe were created to service marine boats such us: torpedo boats, gunboats, tugs and motor boats and also marine hydroplanes.
After the war in the same location Fabryka Maszyn and Odlewnia nr 2 which has been producing equipment for agriculture were opened. In 1953 finally Puck Mechanical Works was officially set up and production of diesel propulsion sets for fishing boats has begun. The power ranged from 50 to 100 BHP.
In the '60s the 150 BHP engine was developed and the reduction gear was designed (they are still produced, after being modernized of course). At the turn of the '60s and the '70s the production of propulsion sets called Delfin, Rekin, Lin and Sum started. Engines for these sets were made by WSW Andrychow and WSK Mielec based on Leyland and Hatz engines.
At the same time cooperation with Zaklady Przemyslu Metalowego H. Cegielski in Poznan (HCP)was established. As a result PMW became the sole producer of head cylinders for power units and traction engines made by HCP. In 1974 PMW with HCP started to produce engine 6AL20/24 under license of Sulzer company. Most of them were sold to ZSRR, FRG, Egypt, Island, Sweden, Cuba, Argentina, Turkey, Vietnam and UAE.
In the '80s the production of marine propulsion sets was expanded with new one called Krab. At the same time new CNC machines were bought, which allowed to manufacture parts and elements for marine power units and high pressure water pumps. In 1984 foundry of cast iron was established.
In 1995 the company was bought by PUH Amex which has changed the ownership and organizational structure. Since then company is named Puck Mechanical Works AMEX Ltd. At the beginning the production of marine power units ZP-20 and ZP-125 and new types of propulsion sets for tropical conditions Delfin 3S and turbocharged Delfin 3TS was launched.
The idea of new owners was to expand actual profile of manufacture with different types of naval and drilling equipment. From this time our main production is based on offshore industry. We are still cooperating with the biggest offshore equipment companies in the world. We offer them a full scope of works such us: casting, welding, final machining, painting, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assembling and final testing. Our range of products includes specialized equipment for oil and gas designed to work in arctic weather conditions and equipment with hydraulic/electric drive systems, winches, crane arms, masts (including drain masts). We also offer special projects of LPG instalations.
Our products are exported to Norway, Denmark, Holland, USA, Sweden, South Korea, Germany and many other countries.
